Gwlad Gwlad – Ffocws ar yr Ardal Leol, Sir Benfro, Straeon Cymru a Chastellau
Yr hanner tymor hwn, ein pwnc yw “Gwlad Gwlad” – cyfle arbennig i blant archwilio eu hunaniaeth, cysylltu â’u hardal leol, a dathlu’r hyn sy’n gwneud Sir Benfro a Chymru mor unigryw. Byddwn yn defnyddio straeon, lleoliadau a hanes lleol i feithrin balchder, chwilfrydedd a dealltwriaeth o’n cymuned.
Dros y chwe wythnos nesaf, byddwn yn canolbwyntio ar thema wahanol bob wythnos, gan gyfuno gweithgareddau dan arweiniad oedolion â dysgu dan arweiniad y plentyn ar draws pob maes dysgu yn y Cyfnod Sylfaen, yn unol â’r Cwricwlwm i Gymru. Bydd y plant yn cael cyfleoedd i archwilio:
• Ein hardal leol yn Sir Benfro – o’r arfordir i’r cefn gwlad, o’n cymunedau i’n traddodiadau.
• Straeon Cymru – chwedlau, cymeriadau a thraddodiadau sy’n rhan o’n hunaniaeth genedlaethol.
• Cestyll Cymru – gan gynnwys rhai yn agos atom ni, fel Castell Aberteifi, Castell Cilgerran, a Chastell Hwlffordd, i ddeall sut mae hanes wedi siapio ein hardal.
Bydd y dysgu’n ymgorffori profiadau creadigol, ymarferol ac ystyrlon, gan helpu’r plant i weld eu lle nhw yn eu cymuned a’u gwlad.

Gwlad Gwlad – Focus on Our Local Area, Pembrokeshire, Welsh Stories and Castles
This half term, our topic is “Gwlad Gwlad” – a wonderful opportunity for children to explore their sense of identity, connect with their local area, and celebrate what makes Pembrokeshire and Wales so special. We will be drawing on local places, Welsh stories, and the rich history of castles to spark curiosity and pride in our community.
Over the next six weeks, we will focus on a different theme each week, with a blend of adult‑led activities and child‑initiated learning across all Areas of Learning and Experience in the Foundation Phase, in line with the Curriculum for Wales. Children will have opportunities to explore:
• Our local area in Pembrokeshire – from our coastline and countryside to our towns, villages, and community traditions.
• Stories of Wales – including myths, legends, and characters that help shape our national identity.
• Welsh castles – such as Cardigan Castle, Cilgerran Castle, and Haverfordwest Castle, helping children understand how history has shaped the places around them.
Learning will be creative, hands‑on, and meaningful, helping children understand their place in their community and their country.
PE Reminder
We kindly ask that your child brings a plain white t-shirt and black trousers or leggings to school on Thursday (Nursery children) and Monday (year 1 and Reception), as they will be taking part in regular PE lessons. These clothes should be comfortable and suitable for active movement. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
